二、新疆高校少數民族雙語班三語教育現狀
少數民族雙語班學生的漢語水平在進入高等教育階段之前幾乎都達到了免漢語預科的標準,使得新疆高校調整對其的語言教育模式。少數民族理科專業學生課程授課基本實現了漢語授課,同時為雙語班學生開設了英語課程,并其納入到高校正規教學范疇,使外語教學更為規范。
通過對新疆高校少數民族學生英語教育的研究發現“學習英語的動機具有工具性和文化性并存、外語文化指向與母語文化指向并存、社會責任與個人發展目標并存、長遠性目標與近期行目標并存”的特點。嚴兆府提到英語學習態度調有以下差異:(1)性別差異,男生學習的情感傾向低于女生,女生對學習的愿望較男生強;(2)學齡層次差異,預科生對學習態度不穩定,大二表現出很高的熱情并付諸行動,大三至大五英語學習行動減少;(3)院校差異,綜合性大學學生與師范類學校相比有更高的積極性;(4)生源差異,北疆學生對英語的認識評價高于南疆學生。文華俊研究顯示維吾爾族“民考民”大學生熱愛英語,重視英語,英語學習上投入的時間和精力不夠語言遷移情況復雜。
筆者對新疆師范大學大一、大二理科雙語班共計119名少數民族學生就目前學校針對雙語班學生的英語教學現狀隨堂征求意見發放問卷和課后訪談了解到大一學生學習積極性高于大二學生,但是對學習方法、學習目的沒有清晰的思路;大二學生有明確的學習目的和方法。針對英語課納入到必修課范圍內態度調查示25%的學生認為應按個體興趣以選修課的形式學習;對大學英語教材滿意度調查發現43%的學生覺得教材編寫不合理,希望教材附有少數民族母語注解的詞匯部分和語法部分;授課方式調查顯示36%的學生希望在講解語法部分時使用母語說明。54%的學生認為中學英語教學不夠正規導致對英語學習的興趣降低。
三、中學少數民族英語學生與高校少數民族英語教育比較
中學與高校少數民族英語教學現狀的比較有助于發現英語教育的銜接問題。筆者通過三個角度對其進行比較:
(一)教學比較。中學少數民族英語教學的總體目標是使學生初步了解到英語基礎知識,但是沒有具體的教學目標;從目前的教學性質來看中學英語由于未被納入到升學考試學校并未給予很大的關注;教學方法上雖授課教室都配備多媒體設備但使用率不高,仍以傳統教學為主。大學少數民族英語教學結合教育部高等教育要求納入到正規教學范疇內,以英語語言知識與應用技能、跨文化交際和學習策略為主要內容,注重聽說能力和自主學習能力。
(二)動機比較。對烏魯木齊市民漢合校中學少數民族雙語學生英語學習動機調查中發現外部動機大于內部動機,英語課程成績在中學階段不影響學生升學,英語課稱為學生的“娛樂”課,缺少更多的動力因素。少數民族大學生焦慮動機較高,英語課作為三語學習不但有母語和二語的干擾,而且更讓學生焦慮的是考試成績。與中學相比,大學生對英語認可度高,學習目的更清楚。工具性動機也較高,示意出通過學習英語掌握所學專業的前沿性知識或為今后的研究生的學習準備。
(三)態度比較。通過對31所烏魯木齊市民漢合校中學生的問卷調查和采訪得出學生對英語學習示意出積極的態度,但是在英語學習上的投入卻并不多。對于大學組來說,雙語班少數民族大學生的問卷調查和采訪得出對英語學習持積極態度,多數學生有學習目標并為實現目標作出相應的努力。
四、解決民漢合校中學雙語班與大學少數民族雙語班英語教學的策略
(一)正確引導學生英語學習。中學少數民族雙語學生在英語學習動機上外部動機高于內部動機,在外語學習中外部刺激引起的反應可以不斷強化學習的動機,而且根據目的的長短性來獲得不同的成就感。內部動機,包括通過參與學習而獲得的快樂和滿足感。從語言習得角度看內在動機起極其重要的作用,教師針對學生學習動機,引導學生在學習策略上向正確方向發展。根據教育部最新公布的有關英語高考變為社會化考試采取一年多考形式,鼓勵少數民族雙語班學生自愿參加英語考試使取得的成績按百分比適當加入高考總成績中,有助于激發學生學習英語的興趣和動機。學生進入大學學習階段后,正確闡明英語教育的目的,使學生樹立正確的學習動機和態度。
