從幾年前北京著手申辦2008年北京奧運會開始，2008年北京奧運會這個話題就一直備受關注。目前關注的焦點已從申辦之初許下的諾言轉移到如何真正履行諾言。在我看來，要跨越諾言與現實之間的鴻溝，北京還有很長一段路要走。

首先，在所有亟待解決的問題中，跨越英語口語這一難關至關重要。學會一門語言的關鍵在于堅持不懈。我們到能不能做到讓大多數國人在2008年到來之前都學會說英語？這一問題需要我們不斷努力和嘗試。

還有，為了各項工作的順利實施，一個高瞻遠矚的整體城市規劃必不可少。如果時間允許，重新設計和調整北京的建筑風格會為構建北京的城市特色創造環境。把東方的精致和西方的宏偉結合在一起一定會在眾多建筑風格中獨樹一幟。要做到以上幾點，北京應該聽取得來自一流建筑師的建議并作出整體規劃。

盡管如此，要實現全世界對北京的期盼，北京還有許許多多工作要做。但我們有信心在2008年到來之前把北京建設成為一個全新的城市。巨大的變化每天都在這個城市發生，相信在不遠的將來，北京將會成為全世界關注的焦點。世界相信北京，這也是北京申奧成功的原因。我們一定會抓住這次機遇并為之全力以赴。今天，我們還沒有做好準備，但在2008年到來之前我們一定會準備好！
