JohnandIwereelectedtotheUSSenateonthesameday20yearsagoandIhaveworkedcloselywithhimforallthattime.SoIwanttosayapersonalwordaboutJohnKerrytheman.

Heisafriendwhowillstandbyyou.Hiswordishisbond.Hehasadeeppatriotismthatgoesfarbeyondwords.HehasdevotedhislifetomakingAmericaabetterplaceforallofus.HeshoweduncommonheroismonthebattlefieldinVietnam.IwatchedhimshowthatsamecourageontheSenatefloor.Hehadthebestrecordofprotectingtheenvironmentagainstpollutersofanyofmycolleagues-barnone.

Henevershiedawayfromafight,nomatterhowpowerfulthefoe.Hewasneverafraidtotakeondifficultandthanklessissuesthatfewotherswantedtotouch-likeexposingthethreatofnarcoterrorismandtracingthesourcesofterroristfinancing.Hewasoneoftheveryfirstinourpartytotakeontheissueofdrasticdeficitreduction.Hehasdevelopedatoughandthoughtfulplantorestoreoureconomicstrengthandfiscaldiscipline.

Toputitsimply,thoseofuswhohaveworkedwithJohnknowthathehasthecourage,integrityandleadershiptobeatrulygreatPresidentoftheUnitedStates.
